An unusual Fishgraal dish by Edward Hald for Orrefors
Designed in 1945, the Fishgraal has been one of the most popular of Orrefors' pieces. Most commonly seen are the thick-sided bowls, where the fish seem to be swimming among weeds. Here we have a small dish, approximately 15 cm long and 10 cm wide, using the same graal technique where the fish apparently swim around just under the surface of the glass. Whitefriars Paperweight with Owl Motif
This is a 1977 paperweight from Whitefriars showing an owl surrounded by four concentric rings of millefiori canes, each row a different colour. The Whitefriars monk cane is in the green row. Most notable is the gradation of colour on the owl's breast. Whitefriars produced most of its paperweights in the 1970s, a late flowering before the factory closed in 1981.
